The future of coffee production from the world`s largest producers, Brazil and Vietnam looks bleak as the two coffee producing giants are witnessing yet another drought which is likely to cause a negative impact on production, exports, and pricing. Brazil and Vietnam had been hit by a semi-drought which decreased the production of coffee in since 2015 and had caused a rise in coffee pricing. There are now fears that there could be a surge in coffee prices from Brazil and Vietnam in 2017 as the drought continues to take its toll.

This has however not affected coffee production in African countries. It has in fact presented an opportunity that has been left by Brazil and Vietnam to maximize coffee production and export to international markets where there has been a rise in demand which is not currently being satisfied.

Top coffee producers in Africa include Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire. According to world rankings, Ethiopia and Uganda are ranked 5 and 8 respectively, with both countries producing over 737 776 tons of coffee annually. African coffee supply if production is maximized could take over from Brazil and Vietnam in the near future.

These African countries can take advantage of the surge in coffee demand that has risen on the international market and start exporting to markets which include Finland, Norway, Netherlands, Slovenia, Austria, Serbia, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, and the United States of America.

Here are some African coffee producers and exporters who can stand to benefit from the rise in coffee demand on the international market.

BTN Coffee Export

This young and vibrant coffee exporting company has been recognized for exporting quality coffee since it commenced operations in 2010. Although it is fairly still young there is no doubt that the quality of coffee the company deals in shows how much they understand the needs of coffee lovers from all over the world.

Satemwa Tea & Coffee Estate

This coffee producing giant is a 3rd generation family owned Tea and Coffee Estate in the ShireHighlands of Malawi established in 1923. For nearly 100 years they have been crafting superior teas and coffees which are exported and enjoyed around the world.
